초록
본 연구는 자녀의 자살로 사별한 부모의 경험 과정 및 의미, 상호작용의 본질적 구조를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 자녀의 자살로 사별한 부모 12명을 의도적 표집으로 모집하여 반구조화 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 심층 면담을 통한 자료 수집 기간은 2022년 8월부터 총 6개월이며 한 참여자당 총1∼4회의 면담을 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 Strauss와 Corbin(1990, 1998)의 근거이론 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 100개의 개념, 44개의 하위범주, 17개의 범주가 도출되었다. 중심현상은‘죄책감과 수치심 속에 그리움의 고통마저 묻어 버림’이었다. 자녀의 자살로 사별한 부모의 경험 과정은 6단계로 ‘충격과 붕괴 단계’, ‘고립 단계’, ‘회피 단계’, ‘고군분투 단계’, ‘내려놓음 단계’, ‘재정립단계’가 도출되었다. 핵심범주는 ‘그리움의 아픔을 가슴에 묻은 채로 젊은이에 대한 이타적 시야가넓어짐’으로 도출되었다. 본 연구는 자녀의 자살로 사별한 부모들의 경험 과정을 심도 있게 탐색하여 자녀의 자살로 사별한 부모에게 적합한 상담 및 치료적 개입을 위한 기초자료를 제공했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the experience process, meaning, and the essential structure of interactions in parents bereaved by their children’s suicide. To this end, 12 parents bereaved by child suicide were recruited by purposive sampling and semi-structured interviews were conducted. The data collection period is a total of 6 months from August 2022, and 1-4 interviews were conducted per participant. Data analysis was analyzed by applying the grounded theory method. As a result of the study, 100 concepts, 44 subcategories, and 17 categories were derived. The central phenomenon was that ‘even the pain of longing buried in guilt and shame.’ The core category was derived as ‘expanding altruistic view for youth while burying the pain of longing in the heart.’ The process of experience in parents bereaved by child suicide was divided into six stages: ‘shock and collapse stage’, ‘avoidance stage’, ‘struggle stage’, ‘acceptance stage’, and ‘re-establishment stage’. This study is significant in that it provided basic data for counseling and therapeutic intervention for parents bereaved by child suicide.
