초록
본 연구에서는 사회통합프로그램에 참여한 외국인근로자들을 대상으로 한국생활 적응에 있어서 사회통합프로그램 참여경험에 대해 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 사회통합프로그램 3단계 혹은 4단계를 거쳐 단계평가시험에 통과한 외국인근로자 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 심층면담한 자 료를 Giorgi 현상학적 방식으로 범주화를 시도한 결과, 5개의 구성요소와 13개의 하위구성요들이 도 출되었다. 도출된 주제는 ‘새로운 삶을 위해 한국행을 결심함’, ‘녹록지 않은 한국생활을 경험함’, ‘사 회통합프로그램을 통해 한국생활 이 편안해짐’, ‘사회통합프로그램을 통해 한국에서의 미래를 그려나 감’, ‘사회통합프로그램은 튼튼한 동아줄이 되어줌’이었다. 이를 바탕으로 사회통합프로그램은 외국 인근로자의 한국정착을 돕고 외국인근로자들이 한국에서 스스로 자립할 수 있도록 지원하는 매개체 역할을 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 외국인근로자들을 대상으로 그들의 한국생활과 사회통 합프로그램 참여경험과 의미에 초점을 두고 살펴보았다는 점에서 의의가 있으며, 이러한 결과를 바 탕으로 외국인근로자들이 한국사회에 정착하고 적응하는데 필요한 교육으로 사회통합프로그램의 운 영과 개선방안이 고려되어야 할 것이다.
This study explored the experience of foreign workers participating in the social inclusion program. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with five foreign workers who had passed the stage evaluation test after completing the third or fourth step of the social inclusion program. As a result of analyzing the interview data of five foreign workers with Giorgi phenomenological way, 5 components and 13 sub-components were derived. The derived themes are to ‘Deciding to move to South Korea for a new life’, ‘Experiencing hardships in Korea’, ‘Becoming comfortable in Korean life through a social integration program’, ‘Building a future in Korea through social inclusion programs’, and ‘Social inclusion programs provide a storng lifeline’. Based on this, we can see that the social inclusion program serves as a medium to help foreign workers settle in Korea and support them to become self-reliant in Korea. This study is significant in that it focuses on the experience and meaning of foreign workers in Korean life and their participation in the social inclusion program. Based on these results, the operation and improvement of the social inclusion program should be considered as a necessary education for foreign workers to settle and adapt to Korean society.
