The purpose of this study is to understand and explore the alienation experience of a singlemother at home based on the narrative inquiry. For this purpose, in-depth interviews wereconducted from July to September 2021 with one unmarried mother at home. The meaning ofexperience was grasped by the framework of analysis of temporality, sociality, and place. Before becoming a single mother, the participant experienced continuous abandonment throughfamily of origin, school, work, society, and lover relationship. After becoming a single mother,she experienced another abandonment from the community. The alienation of the unmarriedmother at home was expanded and solidly structured by repeated abandonment, negativeself-image, and social prejudice and exclusion, but the experience of alienation became animportant motivation for unmarried mother to experience intense maternal love. Despitepoverty, social prejudice, and repeated abandonment, the connection that an unmarried motherexperiences through her child has become a driving force for the relationship between love andhealing.
