The purpose of this study is to verify the mediation effects of emotional labor andempowerment on the relationship between job characteristics and burnout of long-term care facility workers. The analysis target includes 313 workers engaging in long-term care facilities inChungcheongnam-do. The study has selected the equation model analysis using the AMOSpropram as the main analysis method with Bootstrap method used to verify the mediating effectand the phantom variable to verify the individual indirect effect and the mediating effect of theparameters. The study findings are as follows: first, job characteristics are found to have a negative effect on burnout; second, emotional labor is found to mediate the relationshipbetween job characteristics and burnout; third, empowerment is found to mediate therelationship between job characteristics and burnout. Based on these findings, the study haspresented the practical and policy implications applicable to on site fidels. Based on theresearch findings, I have designed job duties intended to promote job characteristics amonglong-term care facility workers and further presented practical and policy implications tominimize emotional labor, reduce burnout and to improve overall working conditions bystrengthening workers¡¯ empowerment.
