This study is to explore the psychosocial difficulties of Korean medical staff during theCOVID-19 outbreak and their needs related to these difficulties. We conducted in-depthinterviews with a total of 14 medical staff in charge of responding to the COVID-19 virus fromJanuary to March 2021. We also analyzed the collected data using Giorgi's phenomenologicalmethod. Our research results are as follows. First, 5 categories, 13 subcategories, and 34semantic units were derived for the psychosocial difficulties of Koean medical staff inCOVID-19. The five specific categories are 'Psychological burden caused by work duties', 'Regretof not being understood', 'Confusion due to work overload and uncertainty', 'Work environmentthat causes physical exhaustion', and 'Psychological difficulties that cannot be shared even inloneliness¡¯. Second, improvements and requests reported by Korean medical staff include¡®Activation of communication among workers on infectious disease disaster response guidelines',¡®Establishment of specialized centers and systems for responding to infectious diseases',¡®Substantial compensation', and ¡®Regular psychological support programs'. Finally, implications were discussed based on the results
