This study investigated the mediating effect of multidimensional experiential avoidance on therelation between post-traumatic negative cognition and growth of university students withinterpersonal trauma. It administered self-reported questionnaires to 400 male and femaleundergraduates enrolled in the four-year universities located at the Jeonbuk area, and then,analyzed the data of 322 students. The results demonstrated the following: First, Post-TraumaticCognition were negatively correlated with Post-Traumatic Growth(PTG). Second, in the processthat the post-traumatic negative cognition influenced on PTG, the behavioral avoidance, one ofmulti-dimensional experiential avoidance sub-factors, negatively influenced on PTG, but thedistraction/suppression positively influenced on the PTG. So the mediating effect of thebehavioral avoidance and the distraction/suppression was verified, and the results suggested theneed of psychological interventions to reduce behavioral avoidance and to appropriatelyincrease the distraction/suppression for university students having experienced the interpersonaltrauma¡¯s PTG. Based on the results of this study, The imitations of the study and implicationsfor the further research were discussed.
