During the Covid-19 period, online classes have been strengthened, and the preference forsynchronous online discussion is increasing in college classes. Therefore, the purpose of thisstudy is to develop a case for synchronous online discussion and to ensure the effect ofsynchronous online discussion on metacognition, critical thinking disposition, creative ability,and collective intelligence. Participants who are involving in synchronous online discussion for10 weeks are 224 students of major courses at K University. Students were asked to take ametacognition test, a critical thinking disposition test, a creative ability test, and a collectiveintelligence test prior to and after the experiment. The selected data were analyzed by thepaired t-tests. As a result, there were significant differences after synchronous online discussionin all factors such as metacognition, critical thinking disposition, creative ability, and collectiveintelligence. The results of this study can be used as basic data to applying synchronous onlinediscussion of College Students.
