In this study, the doctors¡¯ experience of the relationship between research performance andcounseling practice and what requirements they think are necessary to practice thescientist-practitioner model were investigated based on their dissertation experience throughqualitative research. As a result of the study, 3 areas of practice impact, improved role abilities,and views on the scientist-practitioner model implement and accordingly 8 categories, 22subcategories were identified. According to the results, it can be seen that the participantsexperience that research and practice mutually influence and promote each other. In addition,it was confirmed that there was a lack of awareness of the scientist-practitioner model itself, andthat there were difficulties in the vocational and educational environment in practicing thescientist-practitioner model. This study is significant in that we discovered the necessaryelements and proposed several methods to practice the scientist-practitioner model.
