The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of ¥á and SMR enhancing neurofeedback(NFB) training on working memory, inhibition, anxiety, and depression in a normal elderlypopulation. Cognitively healthy participants who were older than 65 were recruited andrandomly assigned into three groups (¥á enhancing, SMR enhancing, pseudo NFB group). An8-week NFB training was implemented for each group. Participants¡¯ cognition, and emotion were measured before and after the trainings. Results indicated that both NFB training groups, compared to the pseudo NFB group, showed a significant improvement in working memory, inhibition, and anxiety levels with the increase of ¥á and SMR activities. Based on these results, implications for future investigation and using NFB training for the management of cognitivefunction and emotion in elderly populations were discussed.
