This study analyzed the effect of a group horticultural therapy program to improve self-esteem by using meta-analysis method. For analysis, a total of 13 papers were selected and analyzed from a total of 430 research papers conducted from 2002 to 2019. The study results are as follows. First, the overall average effect size of the program was 0.896, indicating a large effect size. Second, as for the effect size for each sub-domain of self-esteem, the overall self-esteem was the highest at 1.052, followed by social self-esteem, academic self-esteem, and general self-esteem. Third, the effect size according to the group program intervention variable was the largest in adults at 1.485, followed by the elderly, children, and adolescents. Fourth, the effect size of the program operation on gender was high in the female group, 0.915, followed by mixed and male. Fifth, in terms of publication type, a large effect size was found for journals, 0.844 for journals and 1.046 for dissertations. Finally, it was found that the longer the number of times and operating hours of the group horticultural treatment program was, the greater the effect was. Based on these results, implications for the development and operation of group horticultural therapy programs were discussed.
