<Abstract>

The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effects of stress in the relationship between awareness and women¡¯s counselor burnout. For reaching this goal, data on 165 women counselors were collected. Participants completed online questionnaires on awareness, stress and burnout. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis and Jonson-Neyman technique. The result indicated that acception of sub factors of awareness interacted with stress such that it played a more prominent role during higher stress than during lower stress. Consistent with a mindfulness stress buffering account, results showed that aware training for counselor is more effective in the high-stress condition. Therefore, if we offer aware training program to prevent burnout among counselor, we will need to carefully consider the conselor¡¯s stress conditions.

Keywords: awareness, the moderating effects of stress, counselor burnout, the mindfulness stress buffering account hypothesis
